McDonald’s is launching limited-edition “dueling meals” inspired by the hit Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, offering a unique crossover experience for fans. The meals, designed as adult versions of Happy Meals, will be available starting March 31st and feature items tied to the film’s two main factions: the Saja Boys and HUNTR/X.
Fandom-Focused Menu
The meals cater directly to the film’s fanbase, capitalizing on the rivalry between the Saja Boys and HUNTR/X.
- Saja Boys Breakfast Meal: Includes a Spicy Saja McMuffin, spicy sauce, hash browns, and a small drink. This meal aligns with the fiery image of the Saja Boys.
- HUNTR/X Meal: Comes with Ramyeon McShaker fries, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a medium soft drink, and two exclusive sauces: Hunter Sauce and purple Demon Sauce.
Instead of traditional toys, each meal includes collectible photocards of the film’s characters and a Derpy access card to unlock online content.
The Derpy McFlurry
To complete the experience, McDonald’s is also releasing a Derpy McFlurry. This dessert features vanilla soft serve blended with blackberry popping pearls and wild berry sauce, inspired by the film’s Derpy Tiger character.
Strategic Partnership
According to Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s Chief Marketing Officer, the partnership is a natural fit given the strong fanbases of both KPop Demon Hunters and McDonald’s. This collaboration aims to merge the two brands authentically, tapping into the rivalry between the film’s factions while maintaining a distinctly McDonald’s identity.
